Save your money!

We are new to cloth diapers, I get that, we haven't been doing it for even a month yet, but I still love them more and more every day! I was really nervous about diaper rashes and what we were going to do if we got them, our boys have been known to have some EXTREME diaper rashes, open sores, medicated bum paste, and lots of air time! Porter's bum has NEVER looked so good, it is free of any redness or bumps, I have been researching a good safe cloth diaper rash cream to purchase just in case something should change. I have spent COUNTLESS hours researching and to my surprise I have found something that I don't have to order off line but can actually go to my grocery store aisle and buy, Coconut oil. It is 100% safe on cloth diapers and reviewers say it works wonders. I have bought a nice size jar to have on hand just in case something could start brewing below for Porter, but thus far I am confident that it will be on a rare occasion that I reach for this, none the less I am excited to "test" it out, but would love to say I never had to! So save your money on $14 cloth diaper approved creams and go to your local grocery store and purchase a jar of Coconut oil for $5, it will definitely outlast your small tube of overpriced cream!

Doctor's approval!

Porter had his two year check up this morning and he was SOOO very proud to strut around in his yellow cloth diaper! Our doctor was so impressed with it that she inspected it for several minutes! She couldn't believe how far cloth diapers have come in the short 11 years since she last cloth diapered. She applauded our change to cloth and was very excited to learn that we planned to CD Baby J from the beginning.

Porter trying to escape before shots, he didn't care about clothes just his shoes! He was so excited to show Dr. B his cloth diaper, he even walked up to her and pointed to his yellow diaper! He is such a proud CD boy!

How exciting!

This is our first post on our new blog :)
We have been cloth diapering for almost a week now, and the instant love that I felt the first time I watched Porter walk around in his new FuzziBunz is nothing near the love that I feel a week later, I would say that I was feeling more lust that first day and now I am head over heels in love with cloth diapering! The transition has been so much easier then I thought it would be. Porter LOVES his cloth diapers and cloth wipes (yes we jumped completely in), he actually cries and says his butt hurts when he has to use a disposable wipe. The system that we use just feel into place for us, we wash our daily laundry when we get home from work and then after Porter is changed into his night time diaper I wash his days worth of cloth diapers, hang them on the drying rack before bed and the next morning we have lots of fresh, clean diapers waiting for us! Porter loves being able to pick out his favorite color and enjoys showing off his diapers to everyone. Overall our first week has been nothing short of amazing and I feel so relieved to not worry about whether or not the dog got into the garbage where we put the diapers or walking into Porter's room wishing I had put on a gas mask, because we ran out of the house in a hurry and the dirty diaper got left out on his changer. But most of all I am so happy that Porter's usually slightly red tush has been a beautiful peachy/tan color all week, with no red spots present!
I am proud to say that we are now a cloth diapering family!
